"Suprisingly great!"
Booked my stay in a blind rush on the morning of my flight, using a discount last-minute website. No mention on the site of the word 'backpacker', and I presumed I had booked an apartment for a slash-down price.
Was surprised to find that I had booked a stay at the biggest backpacker hostel I've ever seen. My 'apartment' was a small, but perfectly functional room, and the shared bathroom was just outside. The sheets were clean, and the air con worked, as did the fridge and the TV, not that I used any of them.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bar and live music were awesome.
Had an excellent time, and, while I felt pretty old in comparison with the other guests, I would probably stay there again.

“Lovely hostel would stay again!”
I stayed here for 2 nights before my Whitsundays tour, the reception staff are so lovely and helpful not just when we arrived but also throughout our stay! The rooms are lovely and spacious with really comfortable beds and an en suite bathroom which is very clean. The room has 2 fans and air con which was perfect for the heat! Our room also had a fridge which was perfect to put our food and drinks in as people tend to steal in the communal kitchens! The wifi is free which is brilliant as most places are expensive and there is also a BBQ area where you can make your own BBQ which is fun!! There are 2 kitchens both very clean and have amazing hot plates you can cook in quickly however as mentioned before people in hostels like to steal so many of the utensils were stolen to no fault of the hostels!! Another brilliant part to this hostel is one of the main clubs which is brilliant whether it is busy or not! Magnums is in a brilliant location in the middle of the strip and easy to find the only downside is there is no pool but the lagoon is only a few minutes walk away and is lovely!! I would definitely stay here again!

"Had an awesome time"
Magnums backpackers has been a highlight of my 7 week holiday. I stayed there for 4 nights at the end of June. I stayed in a single room for about $50 night and couldn't fault the room... Shared bathroom but only sharing with a few others so never had to wait... . Rainforest setting is the best thing about it ... It is also very well located. 20 sec to beach and shops.

“LOVED IT!!!”
Reviewed 14 January 2013
my friend and i (in our 40's) needed a cheap place to stay overnight, and i was a bit dubious about booking a backpackers, but Magnums was great! our room was TINY but it was all we needed, and great value. everything was clean and tidy, and the aircon was wonderful. the shared bathroom was clean and sufficient for what we needed. the whole place is like a green gorgeous jungle, it even smelled earthy. there was barely any noise. we will DEFINITELY be back!

Magnums backpackers rocks, the staff was very friendly, lively and helpful. all the sightseeing places are nearby. the rooms are super neat and clean. the restaurant / bar at magnums is nice with some delicious food. overall rating is "excellent" for budget travelers.
Great Hospitality in a neat and clean environment. Clean, friendly and helping staff, in the heart of the town.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Must take a day cruise from Whitsundays / Fantasea adventures for Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beaches / Snorkeling. Its worth the cost. If possible do take "Camira" sailing boat trip for Whitehaven beach day trip.

“Nice Setting”
We had a three night stay in a private cabin, which was basic but perfectly fine. The jungle setting of the hostel is appealing, as it the free wi fi area which lots of hostels don't have. The private room didn't have it's own bathroom but had a/c and a fridge so generally good facilities. The hostel bar is always busy and a good place for a drink.

This is not a hotel, once you remember that backpacker hostels are not hotels - you will learn to love them! This is probably one of the better designed hostel- with the rainforest at your door, and bungalow style accommodation - it almost makes you forget its a back packers. I stayed here 1 night on a quick drive (30 hours excluding the overnight stop) from Sydney to Cairns, and was not disappointed - my mate and I shared a private room with a bunk - and slept well (which is all you want from a backpackers). They had great entrainment out the front in the open pub area, it seemed quiet enough and was in the heart of Airlie. The price was reasonable as were the facilities.

Girls ONLY rooms YAY! Always good to find a hostel that has girls only rooms, they are always tidier and smell better! Four of us shared a room, a little wooden cabin, it was really nice and the hostel had a kitchen and a telly room nearby. We could sit in our room and get Free WI FI! I don't think the restaurant belongs to magnums, it is not great but Ok. Our last hostel had timers on the showers – Magnums has bathrooms in the rooms and plenty of hot water! TRY this place, it is worth it

Best hostel in Airlie and i got a tour from their reception girls heaps cheper then my friendes did up the road. The accomm is pretty standard for a hostel but it is clean and good value for your money as it is so amazing and beautiful out hte back - very funky cabins and you get that tropical thing you thought you would get in Northern Oz. Staff were very helpful esp when trying to work out what tour I wanted vs money I had to spend! Magnums is in middle of town, so I could go and lie at the lagoon across the rod during the day (not a cent spent!) and at niteclubs in the nite - easy to get back to my bed... can't remember when but it worked. I went on Anaconda 2 for a 3 dayer trip , saw heaps of things id never seen before, got ot ly on the white sands of Witehaven beach and oh my god.... I got to see a turtle in real life! Great place to meet people and have an awesome exp[erience 0- highly recommended!

“One of the best hostels we have ever seen”
We stayed there for 3 nights, in a quiet double room in the middle of the silent nature. The room was not so big, but clean like the toilet and the bathroom. The restaurant-pub in front of the main street is really nice, good for party and meet new people. Try it!
